Thousand Lives

A Thousand Lives are our Village Church men’s ministry events, where we gather a few times a year to eat, encourage one another and dive into difficult discussions together. A Thousand Lives is for guys of all ages, from youth to grey hairs. A part of the vision (it’s in the name) is that we want to be growing together, by sharing our lives closely with one another, in a culture where it’s increasingly rare for guys to walk closely with one another. Our next men’s event “fika” is right around the corner.

In Sweden, fika is more than a coffee break — it’s a cultural rhythm of intentionally pausing to be present with the people around you. Simple, unhurried, and built on the belief that people are worth making time for.

In Titus 1, Paul describes men of genuine character as self-controlled, hospitable, and devoted to one another’s good. Keith Birchley will open up that passage and reflect on what it means for how we do life together. Our hope is that this afternoon is just the beginning — that fika becomes a regular rhythm where the men of our church slow down, check in, and grow in their care for one another.
